Evie’s always thought of herself as a normal teenager, even though she works for the International Paranormal Containment Agency, her ex-boyfriend is a faerie, she’s falling for a shape-shifter, and she’s the only person who can see through paranormals’ glamours. But Evie’s about to realize that she may very well be at the center of a dark faerie prophecy promising destruction to all paranormal creatures. So much for normal.

I was expecting a regular paranormal romance novel where the main character (human) fell in love with a creature, and blah blah cheesy romance. And I was really glad I'm wrong. Evelyn, the main character, had a gift, she can look through any glamour, thus she was recruited (or taken) by the IPCA (International Paranormal Containment Agreement) to arrest paranormal creatures. It was huge, right? I thought Evie would be like the serious teenager type, and no I'm wrong again. Even from the start I was really entertained. It was written in Evie's POV, and it was simply hilarious. The way she described everything was really interesting. And so far, Evie is the only girl that could differentiate and describe sighs and made it interesting. Evie is not the regular girl in a paranormal romance book where it was either badass or a coward that tried to be helpful (but not really). She's a mere teenager. She likes pink (even her taser and knife was pink), she doesn't like to train her fighting skills and she watches the 'popular tv show, which is really contrast with the background full of paranormals. Her thoughts and actions was really teenager that she felt real and... Humane. Did I mention she got a good sense of humor? If she was real I would've loved to be friends with her.

I liked every characters available in this book, even the bad Vivian. I never understood Reth though, he's weird (but I still like him). And then there is this unidentified water creature.
“My name’s Evie. Raquel you already know―punched her and then stole her face, remember?―and Jacques over here is your new best friend, because he’s in charge of the feeding schedule around here. Assuming you eat. And you are?” “Lend.” “Lend?” Raquel asked. “Yes, as in, lend me your self.” He shimmered into Raquel again. “Why not Borrow?” I asked. “Better yet, Steal?”
He is Cute with the capital C! I think it was a really good decision for Kiersten White to turn away a little bit from the usual and created a new species instead of using the usual paranormal creatures. Definitely a nice new atmosphere. Lend could be anything (he's kinda like a shape shifter), he's shy in a positive way, and he could draw. I wouldn't spoil anything important so I'll just say that I think he's a really good company. Again, if he's real I would love to be friends. (Or even boyfriend? No?)

Ok enough with the characters. Paranormalcy was a pack full of all kinds of creatures. There's the one we're familiar with like vampires, werewolves, faeries, mermaids, and even hags. And there's some that is completely new like creatures that are made of water and 'The Empty Ones' (no idea right? Cool). And imagine those creatures packed inside an underground organization. I don't know about you but it felt a bit like Monster Inc. to me.

By the end, it was perfect. There's no negative points from me. Love love love! Can't wait to read the next!
